How did Radio Poplar start?

Radio Poplar was formed as a charity (no 517552) back in June 1985 it started as a hospital radio station broadcasting to the patients and staff in St Mary's Hospital in Armley Leeds.

Following a recent reduction in long stay care provision the volunteer broadcasters looked at other ways of broadcasting.

This resulted in us setting up a broadcast station using our considerable expertise and talent on the World Wide Web.

On Thursday June 18th during the programme All sorts which starts at 7pm. Special Guest Singer and Comedian Lee Lambert will be meeting The Bramley Carnival Queen Shanice Heath and her two attendants at our rooftop studio at Bramley Baptist Church.





What does the future hold well we have a new presenter called Jason who has been doing a spot on the All Sorts Show with Bill & Chris. Some Saturday live broadcasts starting on July 18th allowing you to meet the faces behind the good music are being planned. Our listening figures for the last quarter are up slightly on the previous quarter which has encouraged our presenters. All we need is U to spread the news and make Radio Poplar P O P U L A R !!!!!
